THE TOTAL FOREST AREA IN INDONESIA

Den bagus :"The total forest area in Indonesia is about 113,674 million Ha. or 67,84 % of Indonesia territory,  36,674 Ha of which located in Kalimantan, 28,816 million Ha in Irian jaya, 25,175 million Ha in sumatra,
11,291 million Ha in Sulawesi and the remaining 11,718 are scattered in other islands, including Java island.

Dul : "Our forest is very important for us. Their product like timber, rattan. And resin are export commodities, which give us foreign exchange. They also keep the soil fertile, prevent soil erosion, and floods, keep the air clean, they are also important for other countries since they become the lungs of world.

Kabayan :"Some years ago our forests looked from the air like unbroken carpet of green. Today there are a lot of bare patches where the trees have been cut down and cleared for farms, mines and settlement. In some areas the destruction is continuing at a very rapid rate. If we don't stop this, our forest willbe gone by the end of the century.

Den bagus : " To prevent the negative effects of the forest destruction, it is time for us to protect our forests seriously from fire, illegal lodging and other destruction,
